The 3 line into a sewage ejector pit.
I just installed a sewage ejector system in the basement. The bathroom drain line is 3, and the sewage basin came with a 3 rubber ring to place in the fill hole to accommodate the pipe. The instructions state to use a little silicone plumbers grease around the seal and pipe. I did so. Everything went together as needed, but it doesn't seem as tight as I'd think it should be. I mean, the rest of the piping is glued and rigid, but this connection is flexible... you can easily slide the 3 in and out of the gasket. The inspector said this is a common connection, and not to worry as the pump will kick on before the sewage even reaches the entry pipe, and it will all be below concrete and stiffened so it will not move. Sanity check, before I fill up around the basin. Thanks, As far as I know it should be a sealed lid so the basement does not get flooded when the pump fails. What brand system did you get? I would like to look it up online. Mike NJ Yes, the lid is (will be, anyway) sealed with bolts and an adhesive gasket, and has one 2 outlet that will go to the sewer, and one 2 vent that will go up to the roof. But I'm concerned about the inlet which is on the side of the basin, below ground level, where the 3 discharge from the bathroom connects. The 3 pipe is only connected via rubber grommet, and the pipe can slide in and out quite easily. I'm sorry, I'm at work right now so I don't remember the brand name. There should be either threads so you can install a male adapter or a molded hub to adapt a no hub fernco. Something is wrong it you dont have this. Mike NJ My Zoeller unit has the rubber gas seals where the lines enter and I have not had any problems in the 8 years I've owned it. All the pipe penetrations are above the liquid level so I think they just want a gas tight seal. Nothing intended to withstand pressure or to support the pipe. We use the 3 and 4 rubber seals all the time for our basins. I've yet to see one where the pipe would slide easily in and out of the seal. They are a real ***** to get the pipe to go through the seal. We usually have to chamfer the pipe and lube it up real well. Was the hole already drilled in the basin or did you drill it? We use the uniseal brand. Topp Industries : UNISEALS Pipe to Tank Seals Yes, it is this Zoeller unit. It has a 4 hole manufactured into the side of the basin, and a 3 adapter grommet that goes in the 4 hole to fit the 3 pipe. It was pretty easy fit, not tough at all. I'll see about finding another grommet and see if it fits a bit tighter.
