Founded in 1947, the Japanese electronics manufacturer Sansui gained a reputation for producing high-end audio products in the 1970s and 1980s. The impression lasted so long that modern audio aficionados still seek vintage Sansui equipment, such as the SE-7 stereo graphic equalizer. This model, which connects easily to stereo components, caters to receivers with dual tape decks and features frequency response from 10 to 100,000Hz and a level variation range of 12dB.
Instructions
1. Plug two RCA cables - common, two-channel analog audio cables often identified by their red and white connectors - into the tape output on the rear of your receiver.
2. Run the other ends of the RCA cables into the ports labeled "Input" on the rear, on the left-hand side of the Sansui SE-7 equalizer. Connector colors don't matter as long as cable connected to the receiver's "L" output runs to the equalizer's "L" input and its "R" output connects to the "R" input.
3. Connect two RCA cables to the SE-7's audio outputs, located in the center of the device's back side. Plug the other end of the cables into the receiver's tape inputs.
4. Plug the Sansui SE-7 into an electric wall outlet. Press the square "Power" button on the front left side of the equalizer to turn it on.
5. Turn the knob on the front right side of the equalizer to adjust output level, which changes the volume. Move the 20 sliders under "Left Channel" and "Right Channel" to adjust the gain on each frequency listed above the slider until the sound put out by your system suits your preferences.
