Instructions For Weaving Pine Tree Borders

Use pine needles to create fun crafts.


Pine needles emit a particular scent that can spark thoughts of nature and the holidays. Create this scent experience by taking the time to learn weave crafts out of pine needles. Design and build a border out of pine needles to showcase a special photo in a frame or to create a craft project.


Instructions


1. Bring water to a boil in a large cooking pot. Place pine needles in the water and allow them to soak for at least 30 minutes to soften and become pliable.


2. Remove the needles from the pot and place them in a colander or strainer. Rinse the needles with cold water and allow them to dry on a bed of paper towels or newspaper.


3. Create bundles containing 12 pine needles per bundle.


4. Create a starting point from which to weave your needles outward from by bending the end of one bundle downward and sewing it down with raffia, yarn or string. Repeat this process with as many bundles as you require to make a pine needle border.


5. Create a border by weaving the bundles together one over the other. Sew the bundles together at the ends that are bent and sewn down.


6. Finish a frame by folding down and sewing the exposed ends and then sewing them together.
