Use A Canon S3

The Canon S3 is a standard point-and-shoot digital camera designed for use by intermediate-to-advanced photographers. The S3 features 6.2 megapixels of resolution, 12x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, video-capture capabilities and a 2-inch LCD display. Although the camera comes equipped with a wide array of advanced settings (including adjustable shutter speed, image resolution, white balance and ISO speed), the beginner may use a combination of default and automatic settings to achieve impressive results.

Instructions

1. Open the battery cover, located underneath the camera's hand grip; slide the cover's locking mechanism to the unlocked position, then push the cover towards the front of the camera. Insert the batteries into the camera, close the cover and push it back to the locked position.

2. Open the memory card cover, located on the side of the camera's hand grip; slide the cover towards the rear of the camera to unlock it. Insert the memory card into the camera. Close the cover and slide it back into the locked position.

3. Flip the LCD display away from the camera. Rotate the display until it is facing the front of the camera. Flip the display back onto the camera; the display should now be facing outwards.

4. Find the release button and mode lever, located on top of the camera's hand grip, next to the button marked "Off." Hold down the release button and move the mode lever to the setting labeled with a camera icon to turn the camera on.

5. Set the mode dial to the icon labeled "Auto." Use the LCD display to compose your image. Apply light pressure to the shutter button until the camera beeps twice; this indicates that your image is in focus. Press the button all the way down to finish taking your picture.
