My Radio/Cd Player In My Toyota Camry Won'T Play

The CD player often malfunctions due to overheating.

The radio/CD player in your Toyota Camry can stop playing for a number of reasons. Some of the most common include: the unit overheating, a blown electrical fuse or jammed discs. Very rarely is there a CD player or radio problem that the car owner cannot deal with on his own. So save time and money by fixing the radio or CD player yourself.

Instructions

1. Cool down the radio unit by moving the vehicle into the shade. If the radio has been exposed to high temperatures for several hours, it may have overheated. Move the car into a shaded, cooler location. Allow the unit to cool down for 30 minutes before trying to start it up.

2. Examine the electrical fuse under the dashboard. A blown fuse will prevent the radio and CD player from turning on. The electrical fuse in the Toyota Camry is beneath the steering wheel. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove the plastic covering around the steering wheel electronics. The fuse looks like a small glass bulb. If the filament inside the bulb has turned black or cracked, the fuse has blown. Look in the owner's manual for your Camry to determine the fuse type and order a replacement or pick one up at an auto parts store.

3. Remove a jammed disc by inserting a flat head screwdriver into the CD player. Push the screwdriver over the top of the disc and then tilt the screwdriver downward. This will put upward pressure on the backside of the CD, and it should automatically eject.

4. Examine the wiring connections to the radio/CD player. Look under the dashboard with a flashlight and inspect the electrical wires. Look for any loose wires or signs of wear. Any loose or damaged wires must be re-soldered or replaced immediately.
