Make Engraved Name Badges

Engraved name badges can help employees look professional.

Engraved name badges can help your company look more professional, especially when your employees deal with customers on a regular basis. However, if you have a high staff turnover, purchasing badges from a professional engraver can be expensive. If you have the right equipment, making your own engraved name badges is an inexpensive and simple process. You can either use your own designs or scan a ready-made design onto your computer.

Instructions

1. Create the design you want to engrave onto the name badge using the graphic design software. This might be a name or it might include a company logo. Alternatively, you can use a pre-scanned design. Ensure the size of the design matches the size of the badges you are using. Re-size if necessary.

2. Cut up a sheet of plastic and attach badge pins to the back using a strong craft glue.

3. Secure the badge to a flat surface, such as a desk or table top, using the clamps. This will prevent the badge moving around while you are engraving it.

4. Print the design to the engraver as you would with a normal printer. Your computer will transmit the image to the engraving machine and it will engrave your design onto the badge. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for specific advice on operate your laser engraver.

5. Turn off the machine before removing the badge from the clamp. Wipe away any debris using a dry cloth and the badge is ready for use.
