Text Message Quickly

People text message at the bus stop, before meetings and even at dinner. Text messaging is becoming the most convenient and hassle-free way to communicate short and long messages. Here are some easy ways to increase your speed when sending text messages.

Instructions

1. Become familiar with where the letters and characters are on your phone. The best way to figure out text message quickly is to know what you’re doing without thinking. As you become increasingly familiar with where everything is, you will be able to text without even looking. Your speed will increase and you will be able to send more text messages in a short amount of time.

2. Hold your phone with both hands. This may sound crazy, but even for phones that just have numeric keypads, you can definitely text faster if you hold the phone with both hands. You can reach the keys faster and with better ease than if you were to use just one hand.

3. Get a phone with a QWERTY keyboard. This type of keyboard is a miniature version of a computer’s keyboard. For those who spend a lot of time on the computer or are more familiar with this type of keyboard, it is a lot easier for them to text message quickly.

4. Use “T9-Word.” For those phone users that have not yet graduated to a phone with a QWERTY keyboard, use the “T9-Word” text messaging capability. This function makes it so that you can type a word with one stroke of each key. Usually, in the traditional “ABC” command, you have to press a key multiple times to get to a certain letter—to type the word “frog” you would have to press the number 3 three times, the number 7 three times, the number 6 three times and the number 4 once. However, in the “T9-Word” command, you only have to press each key once—to get the word “frog” press the numbers 3, 7, 6 and 4 each one time.

5. Change the word you want by pressing the “next” button. If the word you want is not formed by pressing each letter once, you may have to press the “next” button or which ever button on your phone goes to the next word that would use that exact combination. You may press the numbers 3, 2 and 8 to get the word “fat,” but this combination also forms the word “eat.” Since “eat” comes first, you will need to press “next” to get to the word “fat.” Though it may be confusing at first, learning your “T9-Word” capabilities and drawbacks will make text messaging quicker for you.

6. Practice text messaging. It may sound silly, but the more you text message, the quicker and more efficient you will become.
