Test The Speed Of A Cf Card

Compact Flash cards are used for capturing images and other tasks in portable devices.

Testing the speed of your Compact Flash card is possible and beneficial with the right program on your computer. Compact Flash cards are used to store information in digital cameras, camcorders and other portable devices. Speed specifically matters in downloading from your card to your computer and vice-versa. Using software like Flash Memory Toolkit or SiSoft Sandra Lite, users can test the speeds of the cards. Users can also check their own card with speed tests that have already been completed online.

Instructions

1. Go to the Flash Memory Toolkit website. Click the "Download" button at the top of the page. Select the file at the top of the page titled "fmtinstall.exe" and wait for the program to download. Open the file to install the program. Follow the steps of the installation file. Open the program and select "File Benchmark." Select the drive you are testing at the top and click "Start" to test the speed of the drive.

2. Go to SiSoftware Zone's Sandra Lite page. Click the "Download & Buy" button at the top of the page. Click the "Download" button located on the left "Lite" column. Click any of the links under the "Affiliate Free Download Sites." Select the file from that website and open up the program after it has finished downloading to install it. Follow the installation instructions and open the program. Select "Benchmarks" on the top menu. Select "Removable Storage" to access the drive taken by your Compact Flash card. Test the speed of your card by selecting its drive.

3. Go to Ken Rockwell's CF and SD Memory Card Test website. Check your card to see if it matches with the tests he has completed with specific cards. Check the method you are using to download to and from your CompactFlash card with the tests he has completed for accurate information.
