D70 Corrupted File Problems

The Nikon D70 is a digital camera introduced in 2004. Corrupted files stored on the memory card can potentially cause a number of problems.

Pictures Won't Display

A corrupted file can lead to a picture not appearing at all or only partially. The best method of trying to retrieve the data is to connect the camera to a PC using the supplied USB cable and to analyze the card using a data recovery program -- a quick Web search will bring up a list of freeware and commercial applications.

Camera Behaves Erratically

Corrupted files on board the D70 can also lead to random crashes or glitches in the camera's operation. To fix the problem, you can try reformatting the memory card and resetting the camera back to its factory defaults -- see the supplied documentation or the Nikon website for details.

Pictures Won't Transfer

It's possible that corrupted files cannot be copied over to a computer or other device. To troubleshoot the problem, try using a memory card reader instead of the D70 itself. If the card is damaged, you may have to replace it.
