Switch From Verizon To At&T Wireless

If it's time to get a new cell phone with the latest features or you need better coverage than you are getting from Verizon, then you may decide to switch to AT&T. Or, maybe AT&T has a service plan that better fits your cell phone usage. Whatever the reason, it's not difficult to switch from Verizon to AT&T.

Instructions

Get Your New AT&T Service

1. Go to your nearest AT&T Wireless store to set up new service. Be sure to bring in a recent Verizon Wireless bill. The representative needs to know your current account number to begin the switching process.

2. Pick your AT&T service plan and new phone. You probably have to purchase a new AT&T phone in order to use all of the features in the service plan.

3. Check whether you can keep the same phone number you currently have with Verizon.

4. Sign your contract for your new phone and service, and pay the activation fee for your new AT&T service.

Cancel Your Verizon Service

5. Read your Verizon Wireless contract to understand the early termination fees. If you are leaving Verizon before your contract is up, you are liable for early termination fees prorated by the time remaining on the contract.

6. Go to your nearest Verizon wireless store or call customer support to cancel your Verizon service. Be prepared to pay the early termination fee and any outstanding balances you have on the account.

7. Check all of your voice mail messages before you lose them. Those messages won't transfer to your new AT&T service.
