Use Jvc Mod Files

MOD files are not the most accessible file type, but there is a solution.

When shooting videos with the JVC camcorder, it saves its video files as a MOD file, which is not the most accessible file to upload. The most efficient way to use a MOD file is to upload it from your JVC camcorder onto your computer, and then import the video from your computer to the Cyberlink PowerDirector Express, wwhich is the video editing software that comes with the camcorder. Once you finish editing the video, PowerDirector Express will save it as an AVI file, a more accessible format. Or you can convert the MOD file with a converter.

Instructions

1. Upload your videos from your camcorder to your computer. Plug in the USB cord to the camcorder, and the other end into the computer. (Camcorder should be turned off.)

2. Turn camcorder on to the "Play" position. "USB Mass Storage" should appear on screen.

3. Create a new folder on your computer desktop to save your videos to.

4. In the lower left corner of the computer screen, click the "Start" button, and click on '"My Computer." Double-click the "Everio_HDD (J:)" and then double-click the "SD_Video."

5. Right-click the "PRG" folder and select "Copy" to copy the entire contents (your videos), and then go to the new folder you created on your desktop. Right-click the folder and select "Paste" to paste the videos into this new folder.

6. Launch Cyberlink PowerDirector Express to edit your videos. Click "File" on the top menu and scroll down to "Import." Select import files, and your videos will load into the window. Once the videos have finished loading, select the video that you want to edit by dragging it into the video box below and begin your editing. You can 'Produce' your video, and this is where you will have the option of saving it as an AVI or MPEG file.
