Connect A Canon Md120 To A Pc

A Firewire cable and plug connect a Canon MD120 to a PC.

The Canon MD120 camcorder records footage on digital videotape cassettes. The camcorder is equipped with several connection ports for hooking up to various types of equipment, such as a TV or computer. To connect the Canon to a PC or laptop, the computer must have an IEEE 1394 port, also known as a Firewire connection. The cable is sold separately. Before buying a Firewire cable, check the IEEE 1394 port on your computer to determine whether it contains six pins or four pins so you can purchase the right cable.

Instructions

1. Turn the camcorder's "Power" knob to the "Off" position on the right side of the unit.

2. Insert one end of the Firewire cable into the IEEE 1394 port on the upper edge of the right side of the camcorder. The distinctive shape of the plug must be oriented to fit the port.

3. Connect the other end of the Firewire cable to the IEEE 1394 port on the computer.
