Update Magellan Maestro 3100

The Magellan Maestro 3100 is a handy device, especially for traveling. Because points of interest and maps are constantly changing, it's a good idea to update your Maestro 3100 to make sure the displayed information is correct. Updating the device is not hard, nor does it cost money; however, it is time consuming. Magellan estimates downloading the update takes 5 1/2 hours on a cable connection. Additionally, installing the update takes an additional hour. Unfortunately, the update is only compatible with Windows XP. If you don't have Windows XP, you'll need to use a different computer to install the update.

6. Insert a blank memory card (must be 16 MB to 2 GB). Push the end of a paper clip into the small hole on the Maestro 3100 marked "Reset."


7. Open the update zip file. Click "Extract" to extract the contents of the zip file. Click on the setup file (.exe) in the new Magellan folder. Attach your Maestro 3100 to your computer using the Magellan USB cable.


8. Click "Next" to begin the update. Keep your eye on the progress bar. When the update is complete, the system will tell you. Remove the memory card and disconnect the device after the update is complete.
