Sony HDR-SR11 camcorders record standard definition video in MPEG2 format and high-definition video in MPEG4 AVC/H.264 format. The camcorder formats still images as JPEG files. This model uses a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T type of lens with an optical zoom of 12x and a digital zoom of 150x. The HDR-SR11 has a progressive shutter mode and automatic or manual focus. This camcorder has a still picture resolution of 10.2 megapixels and a maximum video resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. The unit uses a BIONZ image processor and a one-third-inch ClearVid CMOS imaging sensor with Exmor technology.

The HDR-SR11 features image stabilization, low-light capability, face detection, quick-on capability and sepia, pastel and monotone picture effects. The camcorder has a slide show mode, black-and-white fader effects, a dynamic range optimizer and the ability to capture a photograph from a movie. This model has a flash, built-in zoom microphone, 60 GB hard drive and an automatic lens cover. The camcorder is compatible with PictBridge and BRAVIA Sync, making it easier for users to manipulate pictures and synchronize a home-theater system.

The HDR-SR11 has a touch-panel LCD display, measuring 3.2 inches wide, with 921,000 pixels. The color viewfinder has 123,000 pixels and a 16-to-9 ratio.
