Capture Slow Motion On An Hvx200

Record video in slow motion with your video camera.

The Panasonic HVX200 is a high-end, high-definition, professional video camera. The camera either records directly onto a tape or a built-in hard drive (depending on the exact model you are using). It is possible to adjust many of the features of the camera, including the recording frame rate. Adjusting the frame rate on the high-definition video camera allows you to capture both fast and slow motion video.

Instructions

1. Power on the HVX200. Open the LCD view screen on the side of the camera.

2. Press the "Menu" button on the side of the camera. Choose "Recording Options."

3. Select "Frame Rate." Set the frame rate as "60" or "48." The default frame rate is either going to be 24 or 30 for your video project. Doubling the frame rate allow you to capture the slow-motion footage.

4. Record the footage on your HVX200. Change the frame rate back to the 24 or 30 setting after you have finished with the slow-motion footage.

5. Launch the video editing browser you have installed on the computer. When creating a new project, select either a 24- or 30-frames-per-second project. Click "OK." Once the project is created, import your HVX200 recorded content. Because the project has half the speed of your 48/60-fps video, the video appears to take twice as long as it actually did, which provides the slow motion effect you desired.
