The Panasonic VW-VBK180 is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack from Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Panasonic Corp. The company makes them for some of its digital camcorders. At the time of publication, Panasonic still manufactures the VW-VBK180.
Technical Specifications
The Panasonic VW-VBK180 operates on a voltage of at least 3.6 volts. Its electrical charge capability is measured at 1.790 millampere-hours. This can be translated to 1.79 ampere-hours, which means that the electric charge of the battery is transferred by a steady current of 1.79 amperes for one hour.
Compatibility
The Panasonic VW-VBK180 can be used for certain entries of Panasonic's solid state drive-based high-definition camera brands: the pint-sized SDR and the slightly more advanced HDC. Compatible entries include the HDC-HS80K, HDC-SD40K, HDC-TM40K, HDC-TM41H, HDC-TM90K and SDR-T70K.
Battery Charger
The Panasonic VW-VBK180 uses the VW-BC10 AC battery charger, which has a 110-to-240-V operational voltage range. It is also compatible with the VW-VBK360 battery pack. Included on the VW-BC10 are light-emitting diode indicators with automatic current control so that the battery is protected from overcharging, electronic shock or short circuiting.
Weight and Pricing
Sporting a black finish, the Panasonic VW-VBK180 weighs 1.6 oz., or 45.3g. Customers can order the battery from the Panasonic website for the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $80. However, retail outlets such as Amazon.com and B&H Photo Video sell the battery for as low as $46. These prices are current at time of publication.
