Sony designed the Handycam Vision camcorder with computer connectivity so that you can transfer your video and still pictures from the camcorder to the computer. The connection is made between the camcorder and the laptop through a mini-USB data cable that is supplied with the camcorder. You need to adjust the settings on the camcorder so that your computer will recognize it and install USB drivers on your computer to make the connection.
Instructions
1. Turn the "Power" switch on the right side of the camcorder to "VCR."
2. Pull open the LCD screen on the left side of the camcorder and press the "Menu" button. The main menu will appear on the LCD screen.
3. Turn the "Sel/Push Exec" dial, which is located on the back of the camera, under the viewfinder, until the Setup icon is highlighted on the screen and then press in on the on the dial to enter the "Setup" menu. The Setup icon is a toolbox and is the sixth icon down in the menu list.
4. Highlight "USB Stream" and press in on the dial and then select "ON."
5. Pull open the connections cover, located to the left of the LCD screen, to access the mini-USB connector.
6. Connect the mini-USB end of the USB data cable to the the mini-USB jack, which is the right most jack, and then the standard size USB end of the cable to a USB jack on your computer. The "Add Hardware Wizard" window will appear on the computer.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the USB drivers for the Sony Handycam Vision. You will install three USB drivers.
8. Restart the computer after the final driver is installed to finish creating the connection between your camcorder and laptop.
