Control A Canon Camera With A Computer

Control a Canon Camera with a Computer

In situations where you need precise camera control, there is no better way to control the shutter, aperture, exposure and other camera functions than through a computer. With the EOS Utility, bundled with all Canon EOS cameras, you get a software interface right out of the box. Designed to look like the LCD on the EOS itself, the Canon EOS utility gives you a user-friendly way to manage just about every aspect of the camera's controls through a simple USB cable.

Instructions

1. Connect the camera to your computer via the supplied USB interface cable, plugging the small end of the plug into the camera's A/V terminal and the large end into a standard USB port.

2. Set the camera's power switch to "On" and launch the EOS Utility software.

3. From the EOS Utility main screen, select "Camera Settings/Remote Shooting."

4. An interface window will pop up displaying all of the functions that control the camera. To change a setting, double-click on its icon to rotate through available options.

5. Click the "Remote Live View" shooting button on the bottom of the interface window. Enable live-view shooting to send the camera images directly to the computer and let the computer control all camera functions.
