Install A Memory Card In An Hp Ipaq

Memory cards are an affordable way to upgrade the memory of any device. The HP iPAQ, like any PocketPC, comes with built-in storage space. Depending on how much money you spent on your device, PocketPC's come with different amounts of built-in storage space. To supplement this built-in memory, the HP iPAQ is compatible with several forms of memory cards. CompactFlash (CF) and Secure Digital (SD) are two of the most widely recognized makes of memory card. Once installed, these cards will increase the storage space on your Pocket PC. Follow these steps to install a memory card in an HP iPAQ.

Instructions

1. Check your built-in storage. Checking the amount of built-in storage space your HP iPAQ will give you an idea of how much supplementary external storage you need. To do this, access your device's Settings from the Start menu. Then choose the System tab, which will allow you to access the device's memory. Click the Storage Card tab and choose Built-In Storage specifically.

2. Purchase a memory card. A supplementary memory card is your most economical memory-expanding option. Your Axim recognizes three different types of memory card, choosing the right one is a balance of size and price.

3. Use a Secure Digital memory card. Secure Digital Memory Cards snap in and out of the SD memory card slot. With the same force that you would use to click an ink pen, you can install and remove SD memory cards. The card will only snap into place if it is inserted correctly. If the card gives any resistance at all, stop pushing on it and make sure it is straight and upright.

4. Use a CompactFlash memory card. CompactFlash memory cards are installed using the same process that you use to install Secure Digital Memory. You have to first locate the CompactFlash card slot on the exterior of the device. Remove any protective guards from this slot and insert the CompactFlash card. CompactFlash cards can be removed simply by pulling them out of the device.

5. Access the memory card. The HP iPAQ utilizes a File Explorer program that allows you to explore the files and directories in your devices internal and external memory. To access the information written onto an SD or CF card, click on the Start menu. From the Start menu, access Programs and then File Explorer.
