Flash drives are convenient and user-friendly.
Flash drives are USB-compatible, removable storage devices that can be used to store documents, media files, applications and other computer files for portable accessibility. They work well with other portable devices, such as digital cameras and MP3 players. Before anything can be downloaded to the flash drive, all of the files must be transferred to the computer for syncing. In most cases, when a flash drive is plugged into the computer's USB port, it is automatically detected by the computer; therefore, downloading camera photos to a flash drive can be done without any type of installation process.
Instructions
1. Plug one end of the digital camera's USB sync cable into the camera's adapter port. Plug the other end into one of your computer's USB ports. In most cases, the camera's action window or import box will pop open.
2. Press the camera's power button so it can be recognized by the computer.
3. Click "Import Using Windows" when the digital camera's action window opens to transfer the photos from the camera to the computer. The pictures will be moved to the computer's default pictures folder.
4. Disconnect the camera from the computer once the photo transfer is complete.
5. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on the computer. The computer should detect the USB flash drive approximately 30 seconds to one minute after the device is connected properly. The USB flash drive may display a device icon on the taskbar or an AutoPlay box may open.
6. Click the device's taskbar icon or click "Open Files" in the AutoPlay box to access the flash drive's removable storage folder. This action will open the flash drive's folder where the photo files will be downloaded to.
7. Open the folder where the camera photos were imported to the computer's hard drive. (See Tips section on where to look.)
8. Click each photo's thumbnail image while holding down the "Ctrl" key to select all of the camera photos you'd like to download to the flash drive.
9. Right-click one of the highlighted thumbnail images and click "Send To" in the collapsible menu.
10. Click the tab for the USB flash drive's removable disk drive in the collapsible menu. All of the photo files you selected will be downloaded to your flash drive.
