Onkyo Receiver Graphic Equalizer Installation

Equalzier slide controls adjust audio across a range of frequencies.

Onkyo receivers are equipped with volume and tone controls for adjusting audio. You can also connect a stereo graphic equalizer, which lets you fine-tune the sound across a range of frequencies using the equalizer's slide controls. There are two ways to connect an EQ to an Onkyo receiver. If you do not have a tape deck, you can plug in the standard stereo cables to the tape monitor jacks. You can also hook up the EQ to the Onkyo's pre-amplifier jacks. Either connection takes less than a minute.

Instructions

1. Turn off power to the Onkyo and the equalizer.

2. Connect the two plugs on one end of a stereo cable to the Onkyo's left and right "Tape Out" (recording) jacks or the "Main Pre-Out" jacks. The red plug on the stereo cable connects to the right-channel jack. Connect the other plug to the left. Both sets of jacks are on the back of the Onkyo.

3. Insert the pugs on the other end of the cable into the equalizer's left and right input jacks.

4. Connect the second cable to the equalizer's output jacks. Plug in the other end to the Onkyo's "Tape In" (playback) jacks or the "Main Pre-In" jacks.

5. Press the "Tape Monitor" button on the front of the Onkyo to use the equalizer when it is connected to the tape deck jacks.
