Motorola Bluetooth Commands Tutorial

Many Motorola Bluetooth headsets operate similarly and all follow a common command process. A command tutorial can be applied to many Bluetooth models in Motorola's 'H' number series. Commands for a Bluetooth headset refer to the functionality of the device. Some examples of functionality include making a call, pairing the headset, turning on the device, and even using voice dialing.

Power

All Bluetooth headsets can be powered off and on. Turn off the headset when you are not going to use it for a while, as this saves crucial battery time. Bluetooth technology causes many devices to use juice, so it would be beneficial to turn it off.

To turn on the headset, swing open the boon of the headset, or press and hold the power button (this varies by headset model). The lights turn off after one minute to conserve the battery, even though your headset remains on.

To turn off the Bluetooth, again you would swing closed the boon or hold the power button until all lights turn off.

Pairing

Pairing is the primary command for every Bluetooth headset. This is the action that connects a headset to the phone you want to use with it. To being pairing, you must first turn on Bluetooth pairing on your phone. Your phone's Bluetooth feature is turned off by default. To use your headset, you must turn on the Bluetooth feature on your phone. Open the boom on the headset and wait for the light to turn blue to show pairing mode.

Follow your phone's instructions for turning on and pairing with the Bluetooth headset (as this varies by manufacturer). If you are asked for a passcode, it is typically 0000 or 1234. Your phone will now be paired and ready for use.

Basic Call Functions

Every Bluetooth headset contains a set of basic call functions that are part of user functionality. Without these functions, a Motorola Bluetooth would be nothing more than a glorified headphone.

To answer or end a call on the headset, press the 'Call' button to answer an incoming call or disconnect an active call. The call button is usually the biggest and most commonly used button on the headset.

When you need to mute or unmute a call on the Bluetooth, tap both 'volume' buttons at the exact same time. A tone should sound to indicate that you have turned on or turned off mute.

When you need to redial from the headset instead of the phone, press and hold the Call button until you hear a tone. It will dial the last number called from the phone. It is important to remember the last number you dialed from your phone, as it does not dial received calls, it only dials calls originated from the Motorola Bluetooth.

You can also reject calls from the headset when you receive an unwanted call. Press and hold one of the volume buttons until a tone sounds. The phone will stop ringing and the call connection ends.

Another common call function is the ability to transfer the call from the Bluetooth to the phone it is paired with. To transfer, press both volume buttons at the same time you press the Call button. This flips back and forth between both.

Voice Commands

Voice-activated dialing can be performed from a Motorola Bluetooth as well. You must quickly tap the call button and then say the name of the person you want to call. Make sure that you have this contact stored in your phone, otherwise the voice dialing will not function properly. Your phone itself must also support voice dialing. If the phone does not, it will not work from the headset either.
