Canon Photography Tips

Canon Digital Camera

Canon cameras are one of the most popular brands of cameras for sale worldwide. The company sells everything from small consumer cameras that cost around $100 to high-end professional cameras that can cost several thousand dollars. If you're thinking about purchasing a Canon camera or already have one, there are a few things you can do to help make sure your pictures look great every time.

Use the Scene Settings

Use scene settings rather than simply using the "Auto" mode on your camera. Canon cameras come with a variety of scene settings built-in. The scene settings can help you take better pictures by automatically adjusting the camera's settings for a particular situation. For instance, the sports mode on a Canon camera will increase the camera's shutter speed for taking pictures of fast-moving objects like balls in flight. The sand and snow setting uses a low ISO in order to ensure your pictures look great under exceptionally bright conditions. ISO is a setting that determines how sensitive the sensor in your digital camera is to light. Typically you would use a low ISO for exceptionally bright conditions (making the sensor less sensitive) and a high ISO for darker conditions (making the sensor more sensitive to light).

Use the Viewfinder

Try using the viewfinder on your Canon camera to frame shots rather than the LCD screen. LCD screens take up quite a bit of battery power and can be often difficult to see in bright conditions. Turning off your LCD screen and using the viewfinder can help your battery last longer and will make your pictures look better since you can see your subject more clearly.

Turn off the Digital Zoom

Turn off the digital zoom in your camera to ensure your pictures maintain the highest quality possible. All Canon consumer cameras have some sort of digital zoom built in. The optical zoom on your camera uses the camera's lens to get closer to an object, the digital zoom simply enlarges the picture inside your camera which can make it start to look blurry and out of focus.
