A Uniden scanner tunes transmitted radio frequencies, and the USB-1 cable allows the scanner to communicate with your computer. Once the scanner and USB-1 cord are hooked up, you might experience problems with connectivity.
Drivers
Before connecting the Uniden scanner to the computer via the USB-1 cable, install the drivers specific to your operating software from the Uniden.com website.
USB Port
If the computer doesn't detect the connected scanner, unplug the USB-1 from the computer port to reset the connection. Plug a separate device into the USB port and test the device to confirm that the port is active. If the port is non-responsive, plug the USB-1 cord into another USB port. Avoid plugging the cord into a keyboard.
Cable Damage
Unplug the USB cable from the Uniden scanner and examine it for damage, such as frays, rips or bare wire. If the cord is damaged, replace it. Insert the cord into the scanner firmly and confirm that the scanner is powered on.
