Record your karaoke sessions on CD.
Karaoke can be loads of fun. You may even want to record yourself singing to your instrumental karaoke tracks. Doing this is easier than you think. Recording your karaoke performances makes it easy to share your karaoke adventures with the world. You can even use them as demos to display your vocal abilities. Below are instructions for recording a CD using your karaoke machine.
Instructions
1. Download and install one of the many free sound recording programs that can save your recordings in MP3 format. Free software like Audacity, Ardour and Power Sound Editor are perfect for this.
2. Check that you have the proper cables and adapters to connect your karaoke machine's audio output to your computer's microphone or line input jack. Most karaoke machines now come standard with RCA audio outputs. Purchase an RCA audio to 1/8-inch adapter for the end of the RCA cable that is going into your computer.
3. Set up your karaoke machine and make sure that it is ready to go.
4. Connect your karaoke machine's audio output to your computer's microphone or line input.
5. Open your sound recording software.
6. Play music on your karaoke machine and configure your sound recording software so that it picks up the audio signal from your karaoke machine.
7. Adjust the input levels on your sound recording software and output level on your karaoke machine. You don't want the output/input levels too high or your recording will be distorted.
8. Stop your karaoke machine from playing and prepare the track that you want to record by selecting it without pressing play.
9. Start recording on your sound recording software. Only begin recording when you are ready to perform using your karaoke machine. This will prevent excess empty space before your song plays on the recording.
10. Press play on your karaoke machine and sing as you normally would.
11. Stop the recording after the song is finished. Create a different file for each song that you wish to record. This will give you the ability to select the different tracks on the CD. Save all of the songs in MP3 format.
12. Record all of the songs that you wish to record. Create a subfolder in your music folder to keep all of your karaoke recordings in. This will make them easy to find in the future.
13. Burn your karaoke songs to a CD using your sound recording software or your media player.
