1. Right-click on the link titled "AUDACITY SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD LINK" under the Additional Resources at the bottom of this page. Click "Open in New Window" when the dropbox appears. Another window will open on your desktop task bar. The title should say "Audacity: Download." You will see a list of different versions in two tables. Use the beta version comparable to your operating system. The beta versions will be listed in the right-hand table.


2. Double-click on the link that matches your computer's operating system. On the next page, click "Download" under the "Beta Version." You will be redirected to the AVS Sound Editor page. Click "Download Now" to retrieve the Audacity software setup application. Click "Run" to open the music editing software to alter the song to a ringtone. The program will download and load automatically.


3. Click "File," located on the navigation menu bar at the top of the application. Scroll down to open. Locate the .mp3 music file you wish to cut down to a ringtone. The song will load, and the visual waves of the song will appear. Click the "Play" button at the bottom of the application. The marker will begin to move as the song progresses. Follow the marker, and click the mark where you would like to begin cutting the song down. Drag the mouse over the rest of the wave format, and stop where you'd like to end the ringtone. This portion should be highlighted in a different color from the rest of the song.


4. Right-click on the highlighted portion, and scroll down the dropbox menu. Locate the "Trim" command, and double-click on it. The song will then reload displaying only the portion you trimmed. Click the "File" file tab on the navigation menu bar. Scroll down to "Save As." The Windows Explorer screen will appear. Enter the name you desire for your ringtone. Then you should see a dropbox menu under the data form bar. Click on the dropbar to change the file extension to "AAC." Changing the file extension will convert the ringtone into your phone's file format.


5. Plug the phone's USB Adapter into the computer. The "Auto Play" window will appear. It will prompt you to decide what you would like to do with the phone's hard drive. Click "Add Files" to transfer the ringtone file to your phone. The Windows Explorer screen will appear collapsing the file locations in your phone. Click the "Media" folder and click "Ringtones" in the subfolder. In the search bar at the top of the Windows Explorer screen, type the name of your ringtone to locate the file. The file should appear in the search bar. Right-click the file, and click "Copy." At the top of the screen in the left-hand corner, click the left arrow twice to go back to the "Ringtones" folder. Right-click on the open space in the folder and click "Paste." The ringtone file will appear in the folder.


6. Unplug your phone from the computer. Go to your phone's menu and click "Downloads." Go to your "Ringtones" folder. The file will appear in your phone. Scroll to the ringtone file and click "Options." "Assign" the ringtone to ensure it sounds when your phone rings.
