Build A Home Theatre Speaker Box

Many people like the full sound a home theatre system brings to their living room or family room. Making your own home theatre speaker boxes saves money and helps you customize your system. Build home theatre speaker boxes to the correct size for the speakers you have.

Instructions

1. Measure the depth of your speaker and sub woofer. Make the speaker box two inches deeper than the speakers when mounted to the front of the box.

2. Determine the height and width of the box by using the height and width template that comes with your speakers.

3. Sketch a drawing of the finished box using the measurements from the first two steps.

4. Calculate the volume of your box with this formula: height x width x depth=cubic volume. Make sure your cubic volume is adequate for the speakers you've chosen.

5. Cut out the pieces of wood based on your measurements. Use a compass to draw a hole where the speaker will go.

6. Use a double thickness for the front panel and put together with dry wall screws and wood glue. Double thickness makes a stable surface for mounting the speakers to the inside of the box.

7. Mark the drill holes for the speaker and pre drill the holes. Mount the speaker to the front piece before joining the rest of the box.
