Resetting a radio scanner clears the channels to accept new programming.
A radio scanner is a handy tool to pick up information such as police and fire calls, or in the case of the Uniden Bearcat 350, also the NASCAR racing team radio chatter. Scanners like this can be programmed with multiple channels specific to the race teams in order to monitor the radio conversations between the pit crew and drivers, giving insight into the race. Often, after being programmed, the radio may need to be reset to clear the channels that have been previously programmed in order to receive new frequencies.
Instructions
Single Channel Reset
1. Locate an open channel in the private bank. Press "Private" then "Hold", and use the up and down buttons to scroll through the bank to find an open channel. The channel will display 000.0000.
2. Press "Private" to program the channel. The display will alternate between 000.0000 and Channel 1 to show it is ready to program.
3. Scroll to the channel number you wish to program using the up and down keys. Stop at the channel you wish to reset.
4. Push the "Private" button again to program the 000.0000 into the channel you have selected to reprogram. This channel is now reset to no frequency. L/O will appear in the display for this channel as the radio locks out all open frequencies until you reprogram them with a new one.
