Troubleshoot A Sony Fx 620 That Won'T Work With The Power Adaptor

The Sony CCD-FX620 camcorder is sold with a Sony power adaptor cord (product number AC-V255). When connected to the power adaptor, the rechargeable lithium ion battery pack charges. If the battery pack does not charge when connected to the power adaptor, troubleshooting can help you determine whether the power adaptor or battery should be replaced.

Instructions

1. Remove the battery pack from the Sony CCD-FX620 camcorder. Lift the viewfinder as far upward as it will go. Press the "Batt" button inward while simultaneously lifting the battery pack away from the backside of the camcorder.

2. Examine the battery contacts on the battery pack and the power adaptor. Clean them with a soft cloth if they are dusty or have residue on them.

3. Plug the power adaptor into an electrical outlet.

4. Insert the battery pack into the AC power adaptor with the battery pack contacts facing downward and aligned with the contacts in the power adaptor.

5. Slide the power switch from "OFF" to "VTR Charge." The "Power" and the "Charging" light should both turn on, indicating the AC adaptor is receiving power and charging the battery. If neither light turns on, try a different electrical outlet. If neither light still won't turn on, the power adaptor should be replaced. If the power light turns on, but the charging light does not, proceed to Step 6.

6. Allow the battery to remain in the battery charger for four hours. It's possible the charging light is just dead. Slide the adaptor switch to the "Off" position. Lift up on the battery to remove it from the charger.

7. Slide the battery back onto the back side of the camcorder, beneath the viewfinder. Power the camcorder on. If it doesn't power on, the battery is dead and should be replaced.
