Lighting and Optics

Two of the most common devices that can induce a blinder effect are the strobe and the flash. because of the quick delivery of intense light, the eye experiences a lack of focus or temporary inability to make out images. The strobe in particular is frequently used to intentionally disorient people for fun entertainment purposes at parties, dance clubs and the like.

Culture

The blinder effect can refer to a form of cultural chauvinism. For example, Americans may feel that all cultures and societies eventually want to adopt their values and world-view.
