Troubleshoot A Loud Pop In A Canon Power Shot S1is

A Canon digital camera in need of repair might make a loud noise.

Canon PowerShot S1 IS cameras include a 10x optical zoom, 3.2 megapixels, image stabilizer, and Windows compatibility. These features allow you to shoot still shots as well as video. Occasionally, a consumer might experience a "popping noise" problem with the PowerShot S1 IS. You can test your camera to determine what your next step with it is.

Instructions

1. Look at the camera. Confirm that the flash is on.

2. Take a photo. If there is a "popping sound," Repeat. Listen to see if the noise reoccurs.

3. Turn the flash off. Take another photo. Listen for the "popping sound." If there is no "popping sound," there might be a hardware problem with the flash. If the noise reoccurs with the flash turned off, you can assume there is a problem with the camera itself.

4. Contact Canon through its website (see Resource) or Email: carecenter@cits.canon.com. Phone 800-OK-CANON for further repair instructions and available options. Phone Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time.
