A 1394 Adapter To A Pc

Firewire.

A firewire 1394 port provides a faster data transfer rate than USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. Many higher-end electronic products, including external hard drives and video cameras, use the firewire 1394 connection. However, not all computers have this port built into the computer. If you do not have a firewire port, you can use a USB to 1394 firewire adapter. Do take into consideration though that when using the adapter, the data transfer speed slows to the USB port speed.

Instructions

1. Insert the USB end of the adapter into any USB port on your computer. You can find such an adapter at most computer or electronic stores.

2. Connect the 1394 firewire cable into the 1394 port. Plug the other end of the firewire cable into the firewire port on the device you want to connect to the computer.

3. Power on the device you have connected to the computer through the adapter. In a moment the computer states it has detected a new device. You can now go about using the connected hardware as if it is connected through the USB port.
