The Vtech MI6895 phone is a cordless phone that is equipped with several features, including Caller ID and voice mail. Periodically, you may experience trouble using your phone. For example, you may not be able to dial out on the line, may not have a dial tone, or you may not be able to hear your callers when you make a call. The phone may have stopped working altogether. Instead of replacing the phone, troubleshoot it, as the problem is likely to be solved without needing third-party assistance.

Instructions

1. Make sure the headset's battery is plugged in and fully charged. Additionally, make sure that the base of the phone is plugged into the wall jack and the phone jack. Place the headset onto the receiver and let the battery charge for at least 1 hour.

2. Check for a dial tone to make sure that you phone line is active. Press "Talk" on the handset and listen for a dial tone. If you get no dial tone, plug another phone into the phone jack to make sure that the line is inactive. If the line is inactive, call your phone company from a working phone to reactivate the line.

3. Reset the telephone base if the line is working. Unplug the unit's power adapter. Wait 15 seconds and plug the adapter back into the wall jack. Press "Talk" to test the line again.

4. Replace the existing phone cord that connects the phone to the phone jack. The cord might be damaged and need replacing. Use another working cord that you have saved, or purchase a new one from a local electronics store.

5. Turn up the volume on the handset if you cannot hear your callers or do not hear a dial tone. Press "Talk," and then press the "up" volume button, located on the right side of the handset. Dial a number after you have increased the volume.
