Olympus E 410 Tutorial

The Olympus E410 digital camera, or EVolt E410, is a one-of-a-kind SLR camera designed for those photographers graduating from the point-and-shoot style of camera to the more advanced SLR models. The Olympus E410 is designed for simplicity but still boasts the same advanced options native to most SLR cameras, such as higher ISO settings, manual shutter speeds and alternate flash settings. The Olympus E410 camera is lightweight and has a live MOS sensor that allows for viewing subjects on the LCD screen rather than through the viewfinder.

Here is an Olympus E410 Tutorial.

Getting Started

Before using your Olympus E410 digital camera, you must charge the battery. Slide the lithium ion battery into the lithium ion charger by matching the arrows on both the battery and charger and by pressing the battery down. Use the A/C cable to plug the lithium ion charger into the wall. The charging indicator is located in the top left corner of the lithium ion charger and will be red while the battery is charging, green when charging is complete.

To load the battery in the camera, find the battery compartment lock on the bottom of the camera. Slide the battery lock toward the arrow until the battery compartment cover pops open. Slide the lithium ion battery inside the compartment in the direction of the arrow located on the battery, and push the battery compartment cover closed.

Attaching the Camera Lens

After charging and installing the battery, you must attach the camera lens. Remove the body protector cap from the lens and then the rear cap from the front of the camera. Align the attachment marks (indicated by a red mark on both the camera and the lens) and insert the lens into the camera body. Rotate the lens as directed by the arrows (clockwise) until the lens clicks into place. Remove the lens cap and you are ready to shoot.

To remove the lens, press the lens release button (located adjacent to the lens) and rotate the lens counter-clockwise until the lens becomes detached.

Basic Shooting

Start shooting right away with the Olympus E410 by first turning the mode dial to select auto settings. Your setting will depend on your environment. The mode dial is on the top of the camera, and it includes various automatic shooting modes such as portrait, landscape, macro, sport and night portrait. Turn the wheel to your desired setting, pick your subject and press the shutter button (which is also located on the top of the camera) halfway to allow your camera to focus. Press the shutter button down fully to take the picture.

On the mode dial you will also have the option of selecting various scenes. Set the dial mode to Scene, and use the up and down arrows on the back of the camera to choose a scene from the LCD selection. There are 20 additional scenes available.
