Set Scanner Channels

Scanners will monitor police frequencies allowing you to be updated on a public emergency.

Portable and base scanners have many practical applications. Journalists and first responders may use a portable or base scanner to be notified or to receive updates on a new or ongoing public emergency. Portable and base scanners must first have their individual channels set to monitor a specific radio frequency so that the device is optimized for the work for which the user needs it.

Instructions

1. Turn the portable or base scanner unit on. Make sure the scanner is plugged in or has fresh batteries installed.

2. Press the manual or stop button to take the scanner out of the scanner mode so you can set the individual channels.

3. Press the number of the channel you first want to set on the scanner's keypad.

4. Use the keypad to enter the radio frequency for the channel you selected. Press the "save," "enter" or "store" button to save the frequency you just entered. This has now set that channel to monitor the frequency you just entered.

5. Repeat the process for the rest of the channels you need to set with the frequencies you want monitored.

6. Press the scan or start button on your portable or base scanner, and the scanner will start to monitor those frequencies.
