Take Artistic Photos Of Yourself

The right equipment can make a difference in the quality of your photographs.

A photo has the ability to instantly bring back memories from days and moments long gone. Because of this, you may want to take artistic photographs of yourself. These photographs could be passed on to future generations or given to a loved one. You could also simply save these photographs for yourself to view at a later date. These photos are not necessarily a sign of vanity. They could serve as a reminder of how you looked when you were younger.

Instructions

1. Buy your equipment. You will need a camera and a tripod. Depending on your budget and preference, you can choose to buy either a simple digital camera or a more professional camera. Tripods are generally very affordable and important in providing stability for positioning your shots.

2. Find a location to shoot your photos. This can be anywhere you want it to be. You can achieve artistic shots anywhere from public places to more private areas. You can even take an artistic shot somewhere as simple as your living room or bedroom. You can also take them in more public areas such as a park or attraction. However, be mindful of your surroundings. Position your camera and remove any objects you do not want in your shot.

3. Choose the time of day you want to shoot your photos in. Shots set in the morning or afternoon can provide a more energetic feel while shots set during sunset can provide a more sultry feel.

4. Change your look and try something new. If you tend to wear little make up, emphasize a feature, such as your eyes or lips. Change your hair -- If you tend to wear it up, let your hair down. Consider wearing a wig, as it can quickly change your look. For ideas, choose an era or decade and try to mimic a popular look. Remember that makeup, clothing and hair add to the overall look and effect of your photos.

5. Position and reposition yourself. You do not have to be in the very middle of every shot. Play around with the frame, positioning yourself more to the left, right, bottom left and bottom right. Do not hold yourself back by sticking to one angle. Play with different angles to achieve a different shot every time.

6. Change the coloring of the photos. Take pictures in black and white, sepia tone, gray scale, and other effects.
