Olympus E500 Problems

The Olympus E-500 is an 8 megapixel digital SLR camera. It features a HyperCrystal LCD and a full selection of manual settings for various photographic requirements. As with any electronics, you may come across some problems that are easily resolved.

Does Not Turn On

Ensure that the power is not turned off. If the E-500 is in sleep mode, press the shutter button down halfway to turn on the camera. Check whether the battery is fully drained and make sure that the camera is not connected to your computer.

Will Not Take Pictures

Check the battery is charged, and if it is not, recharge it. Ensure you can auto-focus the camera on your subject and that the flash has finished blinking, as this means it is ready to take a picture. Also, if your memory card is full, you will need to delete images before taking a photo.

Foggy Viewfinder Display

A unclear display may be caused by the diopter not being correctly adjusted; try changing it until the frame is visible. Otherwise, there may be condensation on the lens, in which case you should turn off the power and wait until the device is dry.

Incorrect Image Date

Ensure that the date/time has been changed from the factory preset. The data may also to be deleted if the battery has been removed from the camera for an extended length of time.
