My Kodak V1003 Won'T Turn On

My Kodak V1003 Won't Turn On

The Kodak EasyShare V1003, a Kodak Zoom digital camera, typically won't turn on because of hardware malfunction or battery-related reasons. For example, the camera won't turn on if you've installed the Kodak Li-Ion KLIC-7003 battery incorrectly, the battery has insufficient charge, or the battery or battery compartment is dirty. When your Kodak V1003 won't turn on, you simply need to test each possible reason, reposition or charge the battery, and/or clean the battery and battery compartment as needed.

Instructions

1. Flip your Kodak V1003 camera over so that you're looking at the bottom; check that you closed the battery compartment door completely with the door edges flush with the bottom of the camera. If you didn't close the door completely, slide the door to the side to open it. With the door laying against the top of the battery, press down on the door and the battery slightly, then slide the door back into position until it locks in place. Attempt to turn on your camera.

2. Open the door and confirm that you installed the battery with the battery contacts properly aligned inside the compartment (if you originally closed the door completely). If you installed the battery backward with the contacts improperly aligned, turn the battery around, close the compartment door and attempt to turn on the camera again.

3. Charge the battery if you installed it correctly. Plug the Kodak 5-volt AC adapter securely into the camera and an electrical socket. Wait for the battery light on the camera -- which should still turn on even if the camera has insufficient power -- to stop blinking in about two hours, indicating that the battery has charged. Then attempt to turn the camera on.

4. Remove the battery and wipe the battery contacts with a dry, lint-free microfiber cloth to remove any dust or dirt that may have interfered with the camera receiving power from the battery (if the camera still won't turn on). Blow compressed air into the battery compartment. Return the battery to the compartment and attempt to turn on your camera.

5. Replace the battery with a new one if all else fails. If you still can't get the camera to turn on, contact Kodak via online chat, email or phone (see "Resources") for additional assistance, as your camera is malfunctioning and may require off-site repair or complete replacement.
