Use Metrogel

Metrogel (metronidazole gel) is a prescription topical antibacterial gel used to treat redness, lesions and bumps associated with rosacea. For rosacea, the gel is applied once a day to affected areas of the skin. Metrogel is not a cure for rosacea, but it is a treatment for managing the skin condition. A double-blind study showed that metronidazole gel, the ingredient in Metrogel, significantly reduced the symptoms of rosacea.

Instructions

1. Wash the area to be treated with a gentle cleanser. Pat the skin dry.

2. Rub a thin layer of Metrogel into the skin. Avoid the eye area to prevent eye irritation. If the gel accidentally gets in the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cool water for two minutes or until there is no more eye discomfort. Apply the Metrogel once a day or as prescribed by your doctor.

3. Wash hands with soap and water to remove Metrogel residue.

4. Allow Metrogel to completely dry on skin before putting on sunscreen, moisturizers or cosmetics. It takes about three to five minutes for the gel to completely dry.

5. Apply sunscreen before going outdoors to minimize the effects of the sun damage on the skin. Choose a sunscreen that is designed for sensitive skin to reduce the chance of skin irritation.
