While PC users can not use Apple's Photo Booth program, there are a number of alternatives available
Many Apple users sing the praise of Photo Booth, a powerful web cam program that allows you to edit and customize digital photographs and is native to Macs. Photo Booth boasts an impressive range of effects, filters and other creative features. Unfortunately, Photo Booth is not able to run on PC platforms, HP laptops included. However, a number of alternatives are available to use the same web cam. While these programs may not have all the features of Photo Booth, they are still quite functional and should satisfy many PC users.
Instructions
Crazy Cam 3.0
1. Download Crazy Cam and install it on your PC (see References). Crazy Cam uses Adobe AIR to power this program.
2. Start Crazy Cam. It will automatically start your webcam on your laptop. You will see a preview of your webcam, as well as options to switch between photo and video modes.
3. Click the "FX" button on the lower right. This opens the effects menu, which features 33 different effects in the 3.0 version. Unfortunately, very little support is available for different backgrounds.
Cameroid
4. Go to the Cameroid website (see References). This is a web-based Photo Booth-like program that does not require any downloads and is free.
5. Click on the "Snap" tab to open up the page that allows you to take pictures with your webcam. A security dialogue may ask you to allow the website to access your webcam.
6. Choose any of the effects, frames, scenes, or other features from the right-hand side. A preview panel will show the effects before you take the picture.
7. Sign up with your email address to have an online account with Cameroid to save your pictures online.
Snap!
8. Go to the Snap! website (see References). Download the basic version of this program.
9. Open up the program. You will see a preview pane, and many options for effects, scenes, etc.
10. Take pictures with your webcam.
11. Save and store the images you take. Upgrading from the basic level increases the amount of pictures you can take and opens up more functions and bonus content.
