Use The 1020 Cb Radio Code

Using CB radio codes eliminates the need for lengthy explanations over public airwaves. CB radio codes are words or short phrases used in place of regular communication. The "10-20" CB code is the universal CB radio code for location. Here are a few tips to help you use the 10-20 CB radio code.

Instructions

1. Respond with your location when asked, "What's your 20?" when talking with another CB radio operator. With the "10-20" CB radio code, you can be as specific as you want when answering this question. For example, if you were reporting an accident, you would reply with a specific location, including the direction and nearest mile marker.

2. Answer vaguely if you are using the CB radio from your home base, and you are asked, "What's your 10-20?" Give only the nearest city as your location. This protects your privacy.

3. Ask the CB radio operator "What's your 20?" if they need assistance. Another operator may need a tow truck, fuel, a jump for their battery or police assistance. Get enough information to locate them and offer assistance.

4. Give specific information about your location if you are lost and someone asks, "What's your 20?." The information you give will help others determine your location so they can guide you to your destination.
