Sirius Stratus 4 Vs Sportster 4

The Stratus 4 and Sportster 4 are satellite radios developed by SiriusXM for the company's satellite radio service. Both models feature onboard LCD screens, FM transmitter support, universal docking compatibility and headphone outputs. They differ primarily in terms of LCD backlight color, available presets and onboard features.


Identification


The Stratus 4 measures 4.8 inches wide, 1.9 inches tall and 0.7 inches deep at its deepest point. It weighs approximately 3 oz. The Sportster 4 is roughly the same size, measuring 4.5 inches wide, 2.5 inches tall and 0.6 inches deep at its deepest point. It's slightly heavier than the Stratus 4, weighing in at 4.2 oz. The Stratus 4 features an amber-colored backlight, compared to a blue-colored backlight for the Sportster 4. Both models require between 4.9 and 5.6 volts of negative ground DC power.








Features


The Stratus 4 and Sportster 4 both have universal docking capabilities, allowing you to move them between your car, home and any other location with Sirius satellite radio receiver support. Both devices let you attach them to your vehicle's sound system via either wireless FM transmitter or stereo audio output jack. The Stratus 4 has 10 available radio station presets, compared to 30 available presets for the Sportster 4. The Stratus 4 uses push-button navigation to move between channels, while the Sportster 4 uses a rotary knob.








Bundled Items and Price


Sirius sold the Stratus 4 bundled with a vehicle power adapter, a radio dock with vent and dash mounts, a magnetic mount adapter and an FM extender antenna. Sirius sells the Sportster 4 bundled with a vehicle power adapter, vent and suction cup mounts, a remote control, vehicle dock and vehicle antenna. Both models come with 21-foot antenna cables. The Sportster 4 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of approximately $120, plus service subscription, as of the date of publication. The Stratus 4 is no longer available for sale through Sirius' online store, having been succeeded by the Stratus 6 and subsequently discontinued.


Additional Information


Both models feature One-Touch Jump support that lets you move quickly between weather and traffic channels, or between your favorite channel presets. Sirius also outfits both models with parental controls that allow you to lock and unlock specific channels to prevent children hearing explicit or otherwise objectionable content. The Sportster 4 also includes Sirius' Game Alert feature, which helps you keep tabs on sporting events. The Sportster 4's My GameZone feature lets you organize your favorite sports teams and their respective satellite radio channels in one place.
