Stop Camera Vibration

Stop Camera Vibration

If you have ever tried taking photos of action sports or using a camera in low-light conditions, you may have noticed that the photos often come out blurry. Several factors can decrease the sharpness of an image, with camera vibration being one of the primary culprits. Fortunately, camera vibration can be significantly reduced or eliminated altogether with some techniques and a few extra tools.

Instructions

1. Locate the screw mount, a small hole with grooves, on the bottom of your camera. Attach the quick-release mount from the tripod to the bottom of your camera by tightening the screw in the mount. If you are using a smaller tripod, the tripod might not have a separate mount. In this case, screw the camera directly into the tripod itself.

2. Attach the quick-release mount to the tripod. Adjust the tripod until it is positioned at the correct height and angle required to capture your image. Make certain that all screws and knobs have been re-tightened after you have finished adjusting the legs and adjustable joints.

3. If your camera is equipped with a remote, use it instead of the shutter button on the camera to take your photo. Otherwise, set a two-second delay timer to eliminate the effects of camera vibration from pressing the shutter button.

4. If you do not have access to a tripod, rest your camera on a flat surface to reduce camera vibration. You may also prop your elbows on the surface while holding the camera in your hands, though this method is not as effective. If no external surface is available, you can create a tripod by propping your elbow on your knee.
