There are many different ways to purchase a cheap digital camera of the same quality as the full-priced cameras you will find in retail stores. Buying a used or discount brand digital camera can save you quite a bit of money, and you do not have to sacrifice the quality of the photos you will take or purchase a camera that has less features than those found on more expensive models.

1. Determine the features you want to have on the camera you will purchase and decide exactly how much you are willing to spend on the right camera. Make a list of features to compare cameras to when shopping online or in a store.

Buying from these business on Ebay can save you money because the sellers do not have the overhead associated with more traditional retail outlets.

4. Check your local newspaper classifieds section. People often sell new and used digital cameras in the newspaper for discounted prices because they have purchased a new camera or received one as a gift and do not want it. Many people sell items in their local newspapers for much less than they are worth simply to get rid of unwanted clutter.

5. Visit local pawn shops to look for digital cameras that fit your needs. Pawn shops usually offer low prices for items because they do not pay much to purchase them in the beginning.

6. Check local thrift stores like The Salvation Army (see Resources). People often donate their used digital cameras to thrift stores to receive tax write-offs. Some thrift stores even have websites, where used electronic merchandise can be viewed or purchased online.

7. Visit local discount stores for deals on digital cameras. Many club stores like Costco offer special deals to members.

8. Wait until retail stores are having sales to purchase from them. Christmas sales are often the best for digital cameras, as they are commonly purchased as gifts. Retailers usually offer special deals around this time of year.
