The two common ways notebook computers connect to a wireless network are Express Card or by universal serial bus (USB). Both offer ways to connect to the Internet, but one provides more options.
Express Card

Express cards are plugged into your notebook computer's PCMCIA slot. These cards allow you to customize your notebook as needed. The wireless network express card allows you to connect to the Internet without having to sacrifice one of your USB ports. This comes in handy if you are using a wireless mouse and a printer on your notebook computer.
USB
USB allows you more options and faster set up time for your system.
Using one of your computer's USB ports is a great way to connect a wireless device if you are not running multiple peripherals. Most of the time, notebook computers come with a limited number of USB ports. USB offers more convenience because it is usually "plug and play" technology, you do not have to install software or drivers to use these devices.
Pros and Cons
Research which type of wireless works best for you. While USB offers more options for your notebook, it is usually slower than the express card. Some providers offer faster 4G connections to their wireless network. Using express cards usually means downloading drivers and installing software. USB is universal and easier and quicker to set up.
