Troubleshoot A Coolpix S202

Nikon designed the Coolpix S202 as a mid-priced compact digital camera for the home user. It's ideal for point-and-shoot photography, but even a simple and straightforward digital camera like the S202 can occasionally malfunction. Troubleshoot the camera to identify and fix potential problems so you can get back to shooting vivid, crisp images of the world around you.

Instructions

1. Make sure you've powered on the camera if its back LCD screen is dark and it doesn't respond to you pressing its shutter button. Push down the power switch, located on the top of the device directly adjacent to the flash bulb.

2. Verify that the S202's rechargeable lithium-ion battery is charged if the camera doesn't turn on. Plug the device's included charging dock into an electrical outlet. Remove the S202's battery from its battery compartment, which is on the bottom panel of the camera. Insert the battery into the charger. The charger's light will blink during the charging process and will turn solid once charging is finished.

3. Inspect the S202's memory card if you experience data reading problems or if the camera claims you don't have anymore memory for photos even with a memory card inserted. The S202 can only accommodate SanDisk, Toshiba and Panasonic SDHC-labeled memory cards ranging in capacity from 128MB to 4GB.

4. Contact Nikon's camera technical support line toll-free at 800-645-6689 if you still can't make the Coolpix S202 function properly. Support representatives are available every day from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. EST. Alternatively, find a local authorized service center to get your camera inspected by calling 800-645-6678. Be ready to provide the S202's serial number, which is located on the bottom of the device.
