3d Matrix Metering
Nikon uses a technology called 3d Matrix Metering to regulate exposure. Matrix metering will regulate the amount of light and contrast in your picture. Matrix Metering essentially allows the camera to take crisp photos in a myriad of conditions. Both the F65 and the N65 have 3d Matrix metering as a built-in function in the camera.
Shutter Speed
Shutter speed is the speed at which the camera's shutter opens and closes. Shutter speed is important when considering exposure and the amount of light that enters the camera. The faster the shutter speed, the less light that will enter the camera for the picture, generating different effects. Shutter speeds can be set manually on both the N65 and the F65 and have a range of 1/2,000 to 30s.
Interface
The N65 and the F65 models both feature an easy-to-use digital interface built in to the top of the camera. This interface allows you to set exposure control and shutter speed. The digital interface also allows you to customize the 3d Matrix Metering for different light conditions. The interface further also allows you to set parameters for the auto-focus option including adjustments for moving objects.
Considerations
The F65 and the N65 are essentially the same camera with the same specifications. The N65 is the series offered to the United States, while the F65 is the model offered to the rest of the world by Nikon. Both models are considered good beginner level cameras and can be found for less than $300 in the United States. As of 2009, Nikon stopped producing both lines of cameras in favor of the F70 line, but the cameras can still be found on many re-sale websites.
