Follow Teleconference Procedures

Participating in a teleconference will allow you to meet with other individuals within your company or organization without being in a meeting room setting. Once the teleconference host has set up a teleconference appointment, in order for you to participate in the teleconference, there are certain procedures that need to be followed for it to be successful and informative.

Instructions

1. Dial the telephone number to access the teleconference call. The access number can be obtained from the person responsible for hosting the call.

2. Enter your access pin number to join the call. The pin number can also be obtained from the person hosting the call. Without the pin you will not be able to join the call.

3. Introduce yourself. Once you have joined the teleconference, identify yourself to the other teleconference attendants who are on the line. This will let them know who has joined the call. Depending upon the teleconference, the conference host may not have the option enabled for the attendants to identify themselves. If that is the case, you can skip this step.

4. Stick to the topic. Most teleconference calls have a focus or agenda. To ensure that all points on the agenda are discussed, avoid discussing items that are "off topic."

5. Wait until the teleconference has ended before releasing the call. By releasing the call before the conference has ended, you are liable to miss important information being discussed. The teleconference host will normally indicate when the teleconference is officially over.
