Change Cable Service

While using a particular cable provider, you may find that your monthly bill has steadily been going up. You also may discover that there are other cable or satellite providers around who charge much less for the same service. Because of this, it only makes sense to change your cable service. Of course, to do so, you will need to cancel your preexisting service first.

Instructions

1. Call your current cable service provider. This toll-free number can be found on the top of your monthly billing statement.

2. Select your desired language at the beginning of the call, then follow the touchstone keypad prompts until you are connected to a sales associate. Tell them you want to cancel your service. They will try to convince you otherwise, but stay persistent.

3. Ask for a cancellation number. This is just in case they try to bill you again for another month of service. If they do, you will be able to call back with the cancellation number and prove you called and canceled.

4. Contact the cable or service provider you want to use for your new service. See if there are any special deals for new customers switching their service.

5. Agree to a service plan, and set up a time and date for when the installation technician can come out and install your new cable.
