Transfer A Digital Camera To A Jump Drive

A digital camera takes pictures on the go.

A digital camera captures pictures as files, which you can easily transfer onto your computer or upload to the Internet. Alternatively, saving them on a jump drive makes the images easy to store and share with others. A jump drive, or USB flash drive, is a small storage device that stores files such as pictures and music. Your computer recognizes both devices as external folders, making it a simple process to copy the contents from one to the other.

Instructions

1. Turn your camera on. Plug it into the computer using the camera cable. The computer will automatically recognize the camera. If prompted, select "Open folder to view files," then click "OK." The computer will display all photos stored on the camera.

2. Plug the jump drive into the computer. If prompted, select "Open folder to view files." Click "OK."

3. Click the file window with the camera files on it. Starting from above the top-left file, click and drag a box around the files you want to copy

4. Hold down the "Ctrl" key, then press "C." On a Mac, hold down the "Apple" key instead of the "Ctrl" key.

5. Click the jump drive window. While holding down the "Ctrl" key on a PC, or the "Apple" key on a Mac, press "V." Wait for the copying process to finish.

6. Click the "Up" button at the top of the jump drive window to get to the Computer window. Right-click on the representation of the drive and select "Eject." On a Mac, you can drag the representation of the drive to the trash can.

7. Remove the drive and camera from the computer.
